Shocktober’s Slew of New Movies

Another month, another slew of new releases on instant Netflix

Strangely, in spite of Halloween this month, new horror choices are somewhat slim on quality, if not quantity: Remains,Troll, The Legend of Hell House, Tamara, Simon Says, Vampire’s Kiss, The Devil’s Hand, Slither, The Innkeepers, Against the Dark, Below Zero, Queen of the Damned, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch II, Warlock, Warlock: The Armageddon, and I Kissed a Vampire.

Fantasy and science fiction: Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, The Omega Man, Space Cowboys, Code 46, The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption, and Equilibrium.

October 5th is James Bond day and Netflix has given us:Never Say Never Again, The Living Daylights, The Man with the Golden Gun, Diamonds are Forever, Moonraker, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, and From Russia with Love.

Lots of action: Enter the Dragon, Every Which Way But Loose, Exit Wounds, Superfly, Death Wish, The Rookie, Natural Born Killers, Romeo Must Die, Kagemusha, Wild, Wild West, Confessions of a Pit Fighter, Jade Warrior, Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever, Death Wish 2, and Get the Gringo.

A few good westerns: The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Red River, and The Master Gunfighter.

If you just want some ha-has: Mommie Dearest (depending on your point of view), Revenge of the Pink Panther, Dumb and Dumber, Doc Hollywood, Racing Stripes, Summer School, Trail of the Pink Panther, Diner, The Pink Panther Strikes Again, Grumpier Old Men, and Summer Rental.

Other notables include: Amadeus, Michael Collins, Chariots of Fire, Jesus Christ Superstar, Dial M for Murder, March of the Penguins, Paths of Glory, Giant, and Howard’s End.

Oh and it wouldn’t be an update without a TV series: The second season of Walking Dead is now streaming along with the latest seasons of The Office, One Tree Hill, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, and 30 Rock.
